Monthly Expense of Living:

The cost of living in Qatar as a Pakistani varies from person to person. It depends on your lifestyle and the way you spend money. If you live with your family then this cost will increase relatively. However, most of the expats and our research shows that for a single person, the range is 5,500 to 7,000 QAR per month. This is the maximum possible range which includes a well-furnished apartment, food, utility bills, internet bills, transportation, and healthcare. Your cost will not exceed if you spend wisely. Here is the breakdown of monthly expenses:

For Single Expats:

Renting is expensive in centered cities like Doha where a single bedroom apartment (fully furnished) costs 3,500 to 5,000. If you can afford this then there is no better option than living in Doha. But living in places around is way cheaper. The rent starts from 7,00 QAR. However you can use shared apartments with other Pakistani expats. This will help you to save even more. 

The groceries cost you around 1,000 to 1,500 per month, the utility bills(electricity, water, and internet) range from 330 to 700 QAR collectively, depending on your usage. 120 QAR for transportation.

For Expat with Family:

With more members the spending will increase substantially. A 2-bedroom apartment (well-furnished) costs 10,000 to 13,000 in Doha and is cheaper outside the city appx. 7,200 to 8,500 QAR. Please note this is the maximum range still you can get affordable apartments depending upon your budget and needs.

The groceries range from 1800 to 2500 QAR, similarly the utility bill will also increase to 500 to 1000 QAR per month. The internet will cost 2,60 t0 400 QAR, the overall transportation budget (if you have a car) will be around 800 to 1000 QAR.

For child education and healthcare needs the expense will rise to 5,000 to 6,000 QAR per month. So, the monthly cost of living for an expat with family members will range from 13,000 to 20,000 appx per month. 

Visa and Work Permit Process: :

To work in Qatar, you’ll need a work permit. Some companies, mostly large ones, offer sponsored visas. Otherwise, you have to manage all on your own. However, two types of work visas are available for Pakistanis. Employment(work visa) and Business Visa. The first one you need when you want to work in Qatar as an employee, and the second one you need when you are going to Qatar for business purposes.

How you can get a work visa?

The process is pretty same in all cases whether you want a work visa for UAE, Saudi Arabia, or any other country. Following are the steps involved in the process:

1. First you must have a job offer( a certified copy that shows you receive an offer from Qatar employer)
2. If the visa is sponsored then the employer will apply for your visa in Qatari’s Ministry of Interior for visa processing. 
3. They’ll ask you for documents, such as your passport, employment contract, medical certificate, police clearance certificate, and educational and professional proof.

4. Then the employer will submit your documents. Once the Visa gets approved they will inform you. It usually takes more than 2 to 3 months. 
5. When you land in Qatar, you’ll undergo a medication examination and fingerprinting for identity verification.
6. And finally the employer will help you in getting a work and residence permit. Important to legally work and live in Qatar.
