Job Description:
We are looking for an organized and dependable Ophthalmic Office Assistant to provide both administrative and clinical support in our eye care facility. In this role, you will manage office operations such as scheduling appointments, supervising clerical staff, and maintaining patient records, while also assisting ophthalmologists in patient care. You will help with taking medical and ophthalmic histories, operating diagnostic instruments, and administering eye drops or medications as directed.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments

  • Supervise clerical staff performing filing, typing, and record-keeping

  • Manage reception duties, telephone calls, and appointment bookings

  • Assist ophthalmologists and other health care professionals

  • Take patients’ general medical and ophthalmic history

  • Operate ophthalmic testing and measuring instruments

  • Administer prescribed eye drops, ointments, and medications

  • Maintain patient files and ensure accurate record keeping

Qualifications:

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience

  • Previous experience an asset (training will be provided)

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and work as part of a team
